La Belle brings you back to the last edition of Playtime New York August 6-7, 2017!

BUYERS MORE NUMEROUS, MORE LOYAL, MORE INTERNATIONAL!

Playtime’s world tour continued between August 6 and 8, in the city that never sleeps, for the 15th edition of Playtime New York. Held once again at the Metropolitan Pavilion and the Altman building, this summer session brought together nearly 200 collections covering all the different worlds of children swear, from fashion to accessories, design to toys and baby gear.

22% of brands were attending Playtime New York for the very first time, all attracted by the idea of taking part in the most creative and commercial event in the sector. First timers were able to benefit from great visibility, particularly through Pirouette blog’s ‘One-To-Watch’ selection, which saw Anchovy winning in the Fashion category and Sticky lemon in the Design category.

Plenty of surprises awaited the 1958 unique visitors who made the trip (42.3% on day 1, 33.5% on day 2, and 24.2% on day 3). While attendance for visitors remained broadly stable (+0.1% compared to February 2017 and -1% compared to August 2016), on closer inspection some encouraging progress stood out.

COMPARED TO THE LAST EDITION:

• the proportion of buyers among visitors increased by 8 points to its highest level since the launch of the show (76.6%);

• the proportion of visitors who returned to the show after one or several previous visits increased by 5 points, a surge in loyalty which came as a result of our sustained efforts to improve visitor relations management;

• the share of international visitors increased by 4 points to reach 17.8%, with Americans visitors remaining the majority (82.1%).

As for visitors from overseas, for the very first time Asian visitors were more numerous than European visitors. This change was mainly due to Chinese buyers, who are no longer hesitant to make the journey. On a national level, visitors have shortened their travel distances, since central United States visitors came in higher numbers this time than visitors from the West Coast. In all, visitors came from 32 different countries.

THE PROGRAM FOR THESE 3 DAYS

Delightful discoveries, inspiring exhibitions, and enriching conferences. Plenty of inspiration was to be found in the new collections presented, as well as in the artistic installations of the season which illustrated the 3 suggested trends. The visitors were able to discover the works of Sarah Philouze on the ‘Make’ trend space, Fanny Allié on the ‘Share’ space, and American designer Brittany Solem on the ‘Repair’ trend space. Three creative gems for a fashion world which aims to be ever more committed to the planet and its inhabitants.

On the business side, Earnshaw’s magazine put together a panel of experts on August 8 to discuss the new challenges and oppor- tunities of live streaming on social media. And on the subject of technology, the new version of Playologie’s e-marketplace was presented to professionals over a studious breakfast on Monday, August 7.
